Minecraft: STEAMcraft

In this one-hour weekly course, students in grades 3-5 will engage in STEAM topics through the Minecraft platform. Instructors will prestent activities in worlds designed to engage and expose them to a unique perspective in a different STEAM area each day. Class topics will include renewable energy, Redstone creations, Java coding, pixel art, and bridge building. 

Intro to Elementary Electronics

In this 12-week course, 3rd-5th grade students will wield the power of electronics with hands-on projects that break down complex technologies into modular components so they can experiment, build, prototype, and invent! Students will use learn using items such as conductive dough as well as by "hacking" familiar household items.

 

 

HCES - Survivor!

Do you have what it takes to survive? What's the best way to get information when you can't use cell phones or the internet? How do you cook without electricity? How can you use what you know about science to protect yourself from extremes of heat and cold to keep yourself healthy and comfortable? What kind of technology is available to help people affected by natural disasters?

In this club, kids in 3rd grade will be introduced to a variety of survival skills! Fun hands-on activities and games each day will help students learn how to become survivors!

The Art and Science of Harry Potter Camp

Calling all aspiring Hufflepuffs, Ravenclaws, Slytherins, and Gryffindors in grades 3rd - 8th! If you’ve been waiting for your Hogwarts letter, you’re in luck! In this program, campers will explore the science and art of the wonderful world of Harry Potter. Explore the psychology behind the sorting hat, experiment with the chemistry of potions, design your own wand, and more!

Snack is included. Campers registered for both morning and afternoon camp sessions should bring a sack lunch, and will receive lunch supervision at no additional cost.

 

Medieval Ballistics Camp

Are you a young Knight or Dame that loves castles, catapults, knights, and dragons? In this camp for grades 3-5, you’ll get to engage in all kinds of cool activities as you learn about medieval technology, ballistics, castles, mythology, and more! You’ll dabble in early engineering, medieval ballistics, applied mathematics, and possibly try your hand at prop-making by crafting your own sword and shield!

Snack is included. Campers registered for both morning and afternoon camp sessions should bring a sack lunch, and will receive lunch supervision at no additional cost.

 

Theme Park Physics Camp

Roller coasters, ferris wheels, and bumper cars... oh my! In this camp, campers grades 3-5 will learn about the physical science concepts that make some of your favorite theme park attractions safe and fun! Concepts such as gravity, energy, and momentum will be explored with hands-on activities, games, and computer models.

Snack is included. Campers registered for both morning and afternoon camp sessions should bring a sack lunch, and will receive lunch supervision at no additional cost.

FLL Pre-Season Camp

FIRST LEGO League is an international robotics competition that introduces a scientific and real-world challenge to teams comprised of students ages 9-14. In this camp, students will be introduced to all the aspects of FIRST LEGO League; Core Values, the Challenge, and the Robot Game. This camp is the perfect opportunity for students to determine whether they are ready to make the commitment to join a FIRST LEGO League team in the fall.
