Cricut: Design and Make Club

In this Cricut Club for middle school and high school, we will create personalized projects with the Cricut Maker Machine. The Cricut Maker cuts, writes, and scores hundreds of materials–from delicate fabrics and papers to thick leather and balsa wood–in any pattern or image you want. You can design your own projects or download ready-to-use designs, all from right inside the free Cricut Design Space software. We will teach your teen the design application process and provide you with the necessary tools and materials to get creative! Small start-up business ideas and tips will also be available.

Pixel Art Club

Artists and designers in grades 3-5 can stretch their imaginations in this pixel perfect art club! Students will be using both digital and hands-on tools to create pixelated and retro art. They will also be getting creative and square while learning to utilize tools that will animate their pixel art.

Laser Cutting for Artists

In this six week course, students will learn how to use advanced manufacturing technology to take their art to the next level! The instructor will guide young artists through the process of image tracing their traditional artwork, creating a resizable vector graphic, and laser cutting their art on any of our approved materials. Projects that will be completed in this course include laser cut art prints in wood and acrylic, handmade picture frames, and artwork title plaques. By the end of this course, students will have a collection of pieces to add to their portfolios as well as skills in vector graphics with Adobe Illustrator, laser cutting, and product design.

Sewing a Sustainable Closet

Are you looking for a way to spice up your wardrobe? In this course, students will learn how to sew garments and accessories such as scarves, hats, tops, and bottoms from upcycled materials. Topics covered include basic machine sewing techniques, button holes, seam finishes, bias tape, easing and gathering, and interfacing.

This 6 week course includes materials, but you may want to provide your own clothing to personalize. 

Intro to Vector Graphics

In this 6-week course, high school students and adults will learn how to use the open-source software Inkscape. With a focus primarily on vector graphics, they will explore how vectors and raster images differ and will create marketing materials as a project for the class. For said project, they will design a business card, poster, and T-shirt.

Minecraft: Inner Workings and Challenges

In this advanced Minecraft club, you can learn how different technical aspects of minecraft work and use them to your advantage to create or play with different features of minecraft. We will cover topics such as Redstone (minecraft’s in-game system of electricity), Commands (some of the in-game ‘cheats’ to control specific aspects of the game), Command blocks (a way to control commands with redstone), and Datapacks (a way to script commands to run automatically in different situations).

Laser-cut Pinhole Camera and Intro to Film Chemistry Workshop

Calendar Next available session starts Dec 5, 2020 at 1 pm, runs for 1 week

In this 3 hour workshop, students will assemble a working pinhole-camera from parts made on our laser cutter. And then your instructor will walk you through the entire process to take and develop photos on the camera you built.
