In this 8-week course, teenage and adult students will meet two hours a week to create art with Processing. Processing is a flexible software sketchbook and language for learning how to code within the context of the visual arts. Since 2001, Processing has promoted software literacy within the visual arts and visual literacy within technology; there are tens of thousands of students, artists, designers, researchers, and hobbyists who use Processing for learning and prototyping. About the Instructor: Gwyer Sinclair is a visual artist and engineer, using the power of technology to augment his creations. Even at its most surreal and psychedelic, art has an underlying order. Gwyer does his traditional work in ink, and his animation and computer graphics work in code.

Intro to Adobe In Design

This four week course is designed to introduce students to communicating with audiences through visual design. There will be a heavy emphasis on learning the basic design principles; contrast, repetition, alignment, and proximity, as well as how to implement them in several different situations. After completing this course, students should demonstrate an intermediate understanding of Adobe InDesign and know how how to use the program in many different real world situations.

AMT Boot Camp

This camp is the definitive makerspace primer for students in grades 6+. Students will learn about equipment in our Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) shop, such as our laser cutters and 3D printers. Students will also be introduced to the software used to create designs for these machines. Topics explored include vector graphics, 3D modeling basics, materials options, and design principles.

Snack is included. Campers registered for both morning and afternoon camp sessions should bring a sack lunch and will receive lunch supervision at no additional cost.

AMT Armory Camp

This camp is the definitive makerspace primer for students in grades 6+. Students will learn about equipment in our Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) shop while designing and manufacturing weapons and armor. They will have hands-on experience with our laser cutters and shop bot, which is a high performance CNC mill. Students will also be introduced to the software used to create designs for these machines. Topics explored include vector graphics, materials options, chainmaille design, and design principles.

Snack is included. Campers registered for both morning and afternoon camp sessions should bring a sack lunch, and will receive lunch supervision at no additional cost.

AMT Toys and Games Camp

This new camp is the third in our AMT series! It is the definitive makerspace primer for students in grades 6+. Students will learn about equipment in our Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) shop while designing and manufacturing a balance board or board games like Tak or chess. They will have hands-on experience with our laser cutters and shop bot which is a high performance CNC mill. Students will also be introduced to the software used to create designs for these machines. Topics explored include vector graphics, materials options, and design principles.

Snack is included. Campers registered for both morning and afternoon camp sessions should bring a sack lunch, and will receive lunch supervision at no additional cost.

Running with Dinosaurs II Camp

Aspiring paleontologists in grades K-2 will learn all about the mighty dinosaurs that once ruled the earth in the second camp in this series! Campers will learn about several prehistoric eras and engage in a number of activities designed to embrace the wonder many young children have with dinosaurs and other prehistoric beasts. Students can expect to engage in activities such as designing their own fossil, 3D printing, and even learning some rudimentary research skills.

This class has an additional $15.00 materials fee.

AMT Pirates Camp

Metropolis: Atlantis Camp

In this camp, campers in grades 3 - 5 will design and build their own underwater city while learning all about urban planning!

Metropolis is a multidisciplinary curriculum developed by the American Planning Association that embeds language arts, mathematics, health, art, science, and social studies throughout the unit. This is an excellent program for students considering participation in "Future City" in middle school.
