with Karl Liggin

Calendar Current session started Aug 18, 2020 at 9 am, runs for 16 weeks

FIRST LEGO League (FLL) is an international competition organized by FIRST for elementary and middle school students (ages 9 - 14). Each year in August, FIRST LEGO League introduces a scientific and real-world challenge for teams to focus and research. The robotics part of the competition involves designing and programming LEGO Mindstorms robots to complete tasks. The students work out solutions to the various problems they are given and then meet for regional tournaments to share their knowledge, compare ideas, and display their robots.

The theme for 2021 is "Game Changers". The precise competition dates are released later in the season, with Regional Competition Date options typically in late November or early December. Teams advancing to the State Competition will have practices extending into January and should be prepared to register for our post season class.

FLL Jr. Team

$190

with Haleema McCree

It's never too early to discover STEM. LEGO League Jr. is designed to introduce STEM concepts to kids ages 6 to 10 while exciting them through LEGO! Guided by adult coaches and LEGO League Jr. Core Values, students build models using LEGO Education WeDo and create Show Me posters to present what they learned. The program focuses on building interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) through a real-world challenge to be solved by research, critical thinking, and imagination.

Note that the FLL Jr. Team is expected to participate in an Expo in April at the VBC.
