GSES Matter Matters

In this ooey, gooey, fizzy, fluffy, floaty, and fun one-hour weekly class, students in grades K-2 will learn how matter... matters! What happens when you mix an acid and a base? What state of matter is foam? What's a Newtonian fluid? What's a NON-Newtonian fluid (and what makes it fun?) Students will dabble with safe, fun experiments that help them answer (and remember!) these and other vital scientific inqueries!

This class is for students at Goldsmith-Schiffman Elementary School only.

12 Sessions. Class does not meet March 26th.

GSES Metropolis

Calendar Next session starts Jan 31, 2018 at 2:30 pm, runs for 12 weeks

In this one-hour weekly class, students in grades 3-5 will explore urban planning on a journey through "Metropolis: A City of Your Own", a unit curriculum published by the American Planning Association.  Students will learn about architecture, edges, districts, public spaces, landmarks, and transportation, culminating in a cooperative city build. 

This class is excellent preparation for students who may wish to consider participating in the Future City program in middle school.

This class is for students at Goldsmith-Schiffman Elementary School only.

12 sessions. No class on March 28th.

GSES Minecraft Academy

Calendar Next session starts Jan 30, 2018 at 2:30 pm, runs for 12 weeks

In this two-hour weekly class, students in grades 3-5 will learn to up their Minecraft game with guided innovation, intention, and ingenuity. Class topics will focus on builds using Command Blocks, and is appropriate for students with or without Redstone experience.

This class is for students at Goldsmith-Schiffman Elementary School only.

This is a 12-week course, with no class meeting on March 27th.

GSES Robotics II

Calendar Next session starts Jan 29, 2018 at 2:30 pm, runs for 12 weeks

This one-hour weekly class is a continuation using the LEGO EV3 Mindstorm robots, students in grades 3-5 will take what they learned in the beginner class and apply it to more advanced robot builds that utilize the Mindstorm sensors such as color, touch, and ultrasonic, to have their robot perform various functions. The students will continue to learn how to program using the LEGO Mindstorm software utilizing more advanced coding skills. 

This class is for students at Goldsmith-Schiffman Elementary School only.

12 Sessions. No class on March 26th.

GSES Tinker Lab (Tuesday)

Calendar Next session starts Jan 30, 2018 at 2:30 pm, runs for 12 weeks

In this one-hour weekly class, students in grades K-2 will have fun developing their innovation skills and learning about simple machines, energy, forces, and motion! In addition to creating some take-home builds such as catapults, students will also tinker with popular toys such as K'Nex, LEGO, and Marble Run to tackle cooperative building challenges.

This class is for students at Goldsmith-Schiffman Elementary School only.

12 sessions. Class does not meet the week of March 26th. Reserved weather make-up day: 5/1 

GSES Tinker Lab (Wednesday)
