GSES FIRST LEGO League Team
with Karl Liggin
This FIRST LEGO League Team is restricted to enrolled 5th grade students at Hampton Cove Elementary School.
FIRST LEGO League (FLL) is an international competition organized by FIRST for elementary and middle school students (ages 9–14 in the United States and Canada, 9–16 elsewhere). Each year, FIRST LEGO League introduces a scientific and real-world challenge for teams to focus and research on. (“Into Orbit” for the 2018/2019 Season). The robotics part of the competition involves designing and programming LEGO Mindstorms robots to complete tasks. The students work out solutions to the various problems they are given and then meet for regional tournaments to share their knowledge, compare ideas, and display their robots.
Note that this program is a TEAM COMMITMENT. Follow-up work will need to be completed at home, and participants are expected to attend one qualifier competition in late November or early December, and if qualifying, the state competition after winter break.
