Dungeons & Dragons

In this program, veteran Dungeons Masters will lead preteen and young teen gamers through a Dungeons & Dragons game! Learn the ins-and-outs of the most iconic tabletop roleplaying game, as featured in Stranger Things! Participants will create a character, write a background story, learn the rules of the game, and embark on an adventure utilizing cooperative problem-solving skills. Everything you need will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own dice, character sketches, or miniatures! By the end of this camp, students will know how to run their own Dungeons & Dragons group with friends, including the use of modern game tools such as 5th edition rules and character builder apps.

This class will meet for twelve 90-minute sessions.

 

Full Course

Physics

This course will be a semester-long comprehensive introduction to high school physics. This course will cover the following topics: matter and energy, velocity, accelerations, force, energy, electricity, and magnetism.

Prerequisites: An understanding of Algebra II; prior exposure to physical science and trigonometry is preferred.

Please note this class will meet twice a week and will include 68 hours of class time with an instructor. This is a full year of Physics with a lab. 

An additional Class Materials Fee of $100 will be charged for lab materials.

 

ACT Prep

ACT Prep  

This ACT Prep course will emphasize ACT test-taking strategies, specifically math skills, language skills, reading skills, and science-reasoning skills. Students will study and practice listening and note-taking techniques, test-taking strategies, questioning and thinking skills, information retrieval, pre-ACT test practice, memory techniques, reading in the content areas, vocabulary development, and college application completion with the central goal to increase both subtest scores and composite scores. All four ACT subtests will be reviewed: English, Math, Reading, and Science Reasoning. 

NOTE: Students will be assessed based on an improvement model. An additional ACT prep book will be required for the course.

 

Intro to Woodworking

Intro to Woodworking is a 9 week high school course designed to introduce students to general woodworking practices.  Students will meet 2 hours a week in order to expand their knowledge and experience through various projects, lessons, and vocabulary.  Students will be expected to learn about and safely use hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery. Students will complete many projects including a cutting board, a birdhouse, a nightstand, and more! These projects are designed to give students as much experience as possible by using many different machines and tools.

8th graders can be admitted with instructor approval.

 

Woodworking Workshop Series

In this three-part workshop series, attendees will learn the fundamentals of shop safety, tool use, and woodwork project design. This project-based course is designed with the beginner or intermediate woodworker in mind and is appropriate for high school through adults.

AMT Armory Camp

This camp is the definitive makerspace primer for students in grades 6+. Students will learn about equipment in our Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) shop while designing and manufacturing weapons and armor. They will have hands-on experience with our laser cutters and shop bot, which is a high performance CNC mill. Students will also be introduced to the software used to create designs for these machines. Topics explored include vector graphics, materials options, chainmaille design, and design principles.

Snack is included. Campers registered for both morning and afternoon camp sessions should bring a sack lunch, and will receive lunch supervision at no additional cost.

Our Dungeons & Dragons summer camp is the perfect opportunity for tweens and young teens (ages 11-up) to learn the ins and outs of the world’s most popular tabletop roleplaying game! Each participant takes on the role of a unique character in a cooperative storytelling adventure, with decisions and dice rolls determining outcomes. With support from Curse, participants will have access to “D&D Beyond” online resources and will be led through gameplay with one of our friendly Dungeon Masters. All participants go home with their own dice set!

Snack is included. Campers registered for both morning and afternoon camp sessions should bring a sack lunch, and will receive lunch supervision at no additional cost.
