In this 8-week course, teenage and adult students will meet two hours a week to create art with Processing. Processing is a flexible software sketchbook and language for learning how to code within the context of the visual arts. Since 2001, Processing has promoted software literacy within the visual arts and visual literacy within technology; there are tens of thousands of students, artists, designers, researchers, and hobbyists who use Processing for learning and prototyping. About the Instructor: Gwyer Sinclair is a visual artist and engineer, using the power of technology to augment his creations. Even at its most surreal and psychedelic, art has an underlying order. Gwyer does his traditional work in ink, and his animation and computer graphics work in code.

 

Storytelling through Film - Homeschool

This course will walk homeschool students in grades 8-12 through the production of a film, from the brainstorming of an idea and writing scripts through to production, familiarizing everyone with the multiple positions required on set, then to post production where they will take all those previous ideas and turn them into a cohesive story through the art of editing.

This course will walk high school and adult students through the production of a film, starting with brainstorming and writing scripts; after that, we will move to production, familiarizing everyone with the multiple positions required on set. Finally, we will end with post-production, where they will take all those previous ideas and turn them into a cohesive story through the art of editing.

 

 

Intro to Woodworking

Intro to Woodworking is a 9 week high school course designed to introduce students to general woodworking practices.  Students will meet 2 hours a week in order to expand their knowledge and experience through various projects, lessons, and vocabulary.  Students will be expected to learn about and safely use hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery. Students will complete many projects including a cutting board, a birdhouse, a nightstand, and more! These projects are designed to give students as much experience as possible by using many different machines and tools.

8th graders can be admitted with instructor approval.

 

Woodworking Workshop Series

In this three-part workshop series, attendees will learn the fundamentals of shop safety, tool use, and woodwork project design. This project-based course is designed with the beginner or intermediate woodworker in mind and is appropriate for high school through adults.

Intro to Adobe In Design

This four week course is designed to introduce students to communicating with audiences through visual design. There will be a heavy emphasis on learning the basic design principles; contrast, repetition, alignment, and proximity, as well as how to implement them in several different situations. After completing this course, students should demonstrate an intermediate understanding of Adobe InDesign and know how how to use the program in many different real world situations.
