Newton’s Laws become fun in this real life version of the sling shot game Angry Birds for grades K - 2. Experience inertia as you knock over the pompom piggies with your flying birds! Learn how mass and force are both important as you demolish the structures protecting those larcenous pigs! Play bowling for piggies, capture the eggs, and design your own pig protection structure! Mass, momentum, inertia, and friction have never been more exciting!

This camp includes a $15 materials fee.

Snack is included. Campers registered for both morning and afternoon camp sessions should bring a sack lunch, and will receive lunch supervision at no additional cost.

Harvest Math Camp

$200
Calendar Next available session starts Jul 13, 2020 at 1 pm, runs for 1 week

In this camp, campers in grades K-2 will have FUN strengthening their math skills through hands-on gameification of learning. They will build and maintain their farms over the course of a week with the end goal to make their farms self-sustaining as they work to earn the ultimate animal: a cow! This class will introduce the students to multiplication and division using hands on manipulatives as well as incorporate various arts and crafts.

Important Note:  Rudimentary addition and subtraction competency is required for this class.

In this ooey, gooey, fizzy, fluffy, floaty, and fun camp, students in grades K-2 will learn how matter... matters! What happens when you mix an acid and a base? What state of matter is foam? What's a Newtonian fluid? What's a NON-Newtonian fluid (and what makes it fun?) Students will dabble with safe, fun experiments that help them answer (and remember!) these and other vital scientific inqueries!

Snack is included. Campers registered for both morning and afternoon camp sessions should bring a sack lunch, and will receive lunch supervision at no additional cost.

Weird Science Camp

In this new camp, campers in grades K-2 will engage in a diverse variety of hands-on science activities to explore the weird, wonderful world of science! This is a great camp for kids that enjoy hands on science experiments and exploring a number of "science mysteries". They'll learn why weird things happen, conduct experiments, and complete craft activities to help them understand that learning how science works is the best way to solve a mystery!

Extreme Planet: Oceans

$200
Calendar Next available session starts Jul 27, 2020 at 9 am, runs for 1 week

Our planet’s oceans are home to Earth’s most extreme environments. In this summer camp for 3-5th graders, young scientists will explore the attributes of extreme ocean environments such as cold seeps, brine pools, hydrothermal vents, and other unique destinations in our planet’s oceans. Students will complete an engineering challenge to design a vessel that can withstand the extreme temperatures and pressures in the ocean, discover animals that can live without oxygen, and use principles of density to simulate a brine pool.

In order to provide more options to students this year, we are offering virtual participation in our camps. So if you’re not quite ready for your kiddos to be out and about, you can register them for any of our camps with virtual sessions. They can participate virtually along with the campers that will be on-site for camps. Camp supplies will be provided and will need to be picked up from Huntsville STEAM Works or can be mailed directly to your camper for an additional fee. If you would like to register to attend camp virtually select the virtual seat option for the camp that you are registering for. Hope to see you soon!
