Lower Elementary

CS Unplugged

In this camp, young campers ages 5-8 will explore computer science without a computer! CS Unplugged teaches campers computer science through engaging games and puzzles that use cards, string, crayons and lots of running around.

This class has an additional $15.00 materials fee. Snack is included. Campers registered for both morning and afternoon camp sessions should bring a sack lunch, and will receive lunch supervision at no additional cost.

 

Eco Explorers

In this brand new camp, young students in grades K-2 will explore all kinds of ecosystems! Each day, kids will participate in hands-on activities and games as they learn about different ecosystems: Aquatic, Desert, Tundra, and Tropical Rainforest and Temperate Forest. 

Campers will learn about terrain, habitats, how plants and animals are sustained by their environments. Campers may even get to enjoy a critter encounter or two!

This camp includes a $15 materials fee. Campers registering for both a morning and afternoon program are invited to remain for lunch supervision at no extra charge. Such students should bring a sack lunch. Snacks are provided during camp, but students are invited to bring their own snacks to meet their personal dietary restrictions if necessary.

Heroes' Tale

In this summer camp, young adventurers ages 5-7 will take on the roles as the heroes and heroines of their own story as they play through cooperative storytelling adventure. Facilitated by their creative camp counselor, participants will play a simplified tabletop roleplaying game system suitable for younger players. Gameplay is paired with additional fun activities catered to the adventurer-at-heart.

There is an additional $15.00 materials fee for this class. Snack is included. Campers registered for both morning and afternoon camp sessions should bring a sack lunch, and will receive lunch supervision at no additional cost.

 

MSES Tinker Lab

Calendar Next session starts Feb 5, 2019 at 3 pm, runs for 10 weeks

Monte Sano Elementary School students in grades K-3 will learn about simple machines and basic physical science concepts in this engineering mashup course through a variety of different hands‐on activities such as domino builds, bridge engineering, marble runs, tinker cars, and more!

No class 3/19 (Spring Break).

Running with Dinosaurs

Calendar Next session starts Jun 24, 2019 at 9 am, runs for 1 week

Aspiring paleontologists ages 5-8 will learn all about the mighty dinosaurs that once ruled the earth! Campers will learn about several prehistoric eras and engage in a number of activities designed to embrace the wonder many young children have with dinosaurs and other prehistoric beasts. Students can expect to engage in activities such as as a fossil dig, building a laser cut dinosaur model, and even learning some rudimentary research skills.

This class has an additional $15.00 materials fee. Snack is included. Campers registered for both morning and afternoon camp sessions should bring a sack lunch, and will receive lunch supervision at no additional cost.

Stellar Academy

Project Night Sky presents this special camp session in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Lunar Landing. Stellar Academy introduces campers ages 5-8 to an appreciation of the stars. Throughout the week, young astronomers will learn about our closest star, the wonders of the solar system, galaxy, and ultimately expand their minds to the universe beyond.

Project Night Sky is an independent initiative to encourage and promote the study and practice of astronomy, and contribute to scientific observations.

This class has an additional $15 materials fee. Snack is included. Campers registered for both morning and afternoon camp sessions should bring a sack lunch, and will receive lunch supervision at no additional cost.

 

Swings, Slides, & Spinners

Calendar Next session starts Jun 17, 2019 at 1 pm, runs for 1 week

In this camp, young campers ages 5-8 will explore physical science concepts with springs, slides, and whirlygig things! Hands-on activities, building toys, crafts, and games will fill each day as campers tinker, play, and kinetically craft their way all kinds of things that move.

There is an additional $15.00 materials fee for this class. Snack is included. Campers registered for both morning and afternoon camp sessions should bring a sack lunch, and will receive lunch supervision at no additional cost.

 

Tinker Lab
