Summer Camps

AMT 3D Printing Club

This new club is part of our definitive makerspace series for aspiring makers in grades 6+. This club focuses on the fundamentals of 3D printing and the basics of design software with respect to 3D printing. Students will also learn about safety and proper usage of the printers at Huntsville STEAM Works, concluding in a demo of the machines.

Elementary Electronics Camp

In this camp, students ages in grades 3rd-5th wield the power of electronics with hands-on projects that break down complex technologies into modular components so they can experiment, build, prototype, and invent. Students will use hands-on projects using items such as conductive dough and by 'hacking' familiar household items.

This class includes an additional $15 class materials fee.

In order to provide more options to students this year, we are offering virtual participation in our camps. So if you’re not quite ready for your kiddos to be out and about, you can register them for any of our camps with virtual sessions. They can participate virtually along with the campers that will be on-site for camps. Camp supplies will be provided and will need to be picked up from Huntsville STEAM Works or can be mailed directly to your camper for an additional fee. If you would like to register to attend camp virtually select the virtual seat option for the camp that you are registering for. Hope to see you soon!

Snack is included. Campers registered for both morning and afternoon camp sessions should bring a sack lunch, and will receive lunch supervision at no additional cost.

Tinker Lab - Forces Camp (3rd-5th)

Campers in grades 3 - 5 will learn about forces and basic physical science concepts in this engineering mashup course through a variety of different hands‐on activities such as domino builds, bridge engineering, marble runs, tinker cars, and more!

WeDo Robotics Camp

This robotics course is intended for campers in kindergarten through rising third graders. In this casual robotics class for young learners, campers will learn using LEGO WeDo Robotics. Hands-on projects will ignite students’ curiosity, while enhancing their skills in science, engineering, technology, and coding. Sessions I and II will feature different robot builds.

Snack is included. Campers registered for both morning and afternoon camp sessions should bring a sack lunch, and will receive lunch supervision at no additional cost.

 

Heroes' Tale Camp (K-2)

In this camp, young adventurers K-2 will take on the roles as the heroes and heroines of their own story as they play through cooperative storytelling adventure. Facilitated by their creative camp counselor, participants will play a simplified tabletop roleplaying game system suitable for younger players. Gameplay is paired with additional fun activities catered to the adventurer-at-heart.

Snack is included. Campers registered for both morning and afternoon camp sessions should bring a sack lunch, and will receive lunch supervision at no additional cost.

 

Magic the Gathering Camp

Have your fantasy and board game fanatic join us to learn how to play the original trading card game, Magic: The Gathering! This camp for grades 6-8 will provide students with their very own deck to pilot (and keep!) as they learn to navigate one of the world's most popular card games. They will learn about the rules and how to play, supplemented with plentiful discussions of game theory, logic, and mental arithmetic as they learn how to navigate the complex card interactions and play with their peers!

Wizard's School: Herbology and the Care of Magical Creatures Camp

Calling all aspiring Hufflepuffs, Ravenclaws, Slytherins, and Gryffindors in grades 3rd - 5th! In this brand new program, campers will explore herbology and the care of magical creatures. Campers, you will learn to care for and utilize plants while learning about their uses, the care and proper treatment of magical creatures, and more!

The botany and zoology focus in this camp will be on adaptations, care, and habitats.

In this afternoon camp, upper elementary campers will get their Minecraft game on while exploring worlds inspired by the Star Wars universe. In addition to some galactic game time, campers will do some Star Wars themed crafting such as making foam lightsabers and wookie puppets!
