Battle Bots II

In this 19-week intermediate course, students 6th grade and up will learn basic soldering, 3D-design software, introductory electronics, 3D printing, and how to operate a machine utilizing RC, all while working in a group to customize a one-pound battle robot.

In this 12-week class, students grades K-2 will explore physical science concepts with springs, slides, and whirligig things! Hands-on activities, building toys, crafts, and games will fill each day as students tinker, play, and kinetically craft their way through all kinds of things that move.

It’s never too early to discover STEM. FIRST LEGO League Jr. is designed to introduce STEM concepts to kids ages 6 to 10 while exciting them through LEGO!

Guided by adult coaches and FIRST LEGO League Jr. Core Values, students build models using LEGO® Education WeDo and create Show Me posters to present what they learned. The program focuses on building interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) through a real-world challenge – to be solved by research, critical thinking, and imagination. This year's challenge: BOOMTOWN BUILD

Note that the FLL Jr. Team is expected to participate in an Expo on April 4th at the VBC.

Robotics II - Community

This upper-intermediate level robotics course is intended for community students in 3rd-5th grade. This is our non-competition, casual robotics class. Students will learn about robotics one hour weekly using LEGO MINDSTORMS Education EV3 Core Set. This STEM program engages students by providing the resources to design, build, and program their creations while helping them develop essential skills such as creativity, critical-thinking, collaboration, and communication. 

 

Hogwarts: Wizards and Wonders Camp

In this summer camp, little wizards in K-2 will experience some real summer "magic"! Campers will engage in a variety of hands-on games and activities as they explore some interesting, surprising, and fun effects. "Magical" crafts and stories will also keep campers engaged throughout this wondrous week of learning.

Snack is included. Campers registered for both morning and afternoon camp sessions should bring a sack lunch, and will receive lunch supervision at no additional cost.

The Art and Science of Harry Potter Camp

Calling all aspiring Hufflepuffs, Ravenclaws, Slytherins, and Gryffindors in grades 3rd - 8th! If you’ve been waiting for your Hogwarts letter, you’re in luck! In this program, campers will explore the science and art of the wonderful world of Harry Potter. Explore the psychology behind the sorting hat, experiment with the chemistry of potions, design your own wand, and more!

Snack is included. Campers registered for both morning and afternoon camp sessions should bring a sack lunch, and will receive lunch supervision at no additional cost.

 

AMT Armory Camp

This camp is the definitive makerspace primer for students in grades 6+. Students will learn about equipment in our Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) shop while designing and manufacturing weapons and armor. They will have hands-on experience with our laser cutters and shop bot, which is a high performance CNC mill. Students will also be introduced to the software used to create designs for these machines. Topics explored include vector graphics, materials options, chainmaille design, and design principles.

Snack is included. Campers registered for both morning and afternoon camp sessions should bring a sack lunch, and will receive lunch supervision at no additional cost.

Dungeons & Dragons Camp

Our Dungeons & Dragons summer camp is the perfect opportunity for tweens and young teens (ages 11-up) to learn the ins and outs of the world’s most popular tabletop roleplaying game! Each participant takes on the role of a unique character in a cooperative storytelling adventure, with decisions and dice rolls determining outcomes. With support from Curse, participants will have access to “D&D Beyond” online resources and will be led through gameplay with one of our friendly Dungeon Masters. All participants go home with their own dice set!

Snack is included. Campers registered for both morning and afternoon camp sessions should bring a sack lunch, and will receive lunch supervision at no additional cost.
