Python Programming with Minecraft
with Cody Hutcheson
You’ve bested creepers, traveled deep into caves, and maybe even gone to The End and back—but have you ever transformed a sword into a magic wand? Built structures in the blink of an eye? In this class, students will manipulate Minecraft with the power of Python, a free programming language used by millions of professional and first-time programmers!
Students in late elementary through early high school will begin with some short, simple Python lessons and then use these new skills to modify Minecraft to produce instant and totally awesome results. Learn how to customize Minecraft, duplicate entire buildings, and manipulate blocks. Students will see Minecraft in a whole new light while learning the basics of programming.
Basic keyboarding proficiency is REQUIRED. 30 wpm recommended. Students demonstrating under a 20 wpm typing speed in class will be pulled from class for keyboarding intervention. 20 wpm is a very slow-paced typing speed that most students in this age group should be able to achieve with a few weeks of basic touchtyping practice. TypingTest.com is a free online resource you can use to assess your child's typing speed.
